GRADUATE TRAINEE: CHEF

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To assist the Head Chef in the supervision of kitchen production and preparation of food. The incumbent should provide the highest quality food consistent with cost control and profitability margins to maximize guest satisfaction and food profitability
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Diploma, Technical Certificate in Culinary Cookery
  • Namibian Citizenship/ Permanent Residence Permit
  • Above average academic results and recognition of potential (we are really looking for the most passionate youth out there and will require your academic record as part of your application
  • Only candidates with less than 6 months’ work experience in their field of study will be considered
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Assist with production of both guest and staff meals in line with the food concept
  • Assist with menu planning, design, costing & engineering
  • Assist with supervising quality of food production and service thereof
  • Deliver products of the highest quality in terms of freshness, taste and consistency
  • Set up station properly and on time for each service period
  • Make sure quality and quantity meets an exceptional standard
  • Be able to work in another area when needed and follow kitchen regulations as directed
SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent cooking and or baking skills
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Planning and organizing skills
  • Positive, highly ambitious, self- motivated and self-driven
  • Creative and goal achievement orientated
